Rat-tail Diamond File (Round) - ideal for smoothing the inside of the butt of bassoon reeds.

Easy to clean cane off the file, just dunk it in some clean water and it falls off!

Complete file length - 14cm

Diameter of widest part of the diamond file - 2mm, decreasing to ~0.5mm at the tip

Handle diameter - ~3.5mm

Great Value for money. I've used the file on my reeds, given old ones more life, and new ones filed a bit from the bottom, so that they fit on the crook.

Spare the knife

Using a flat metal plaque can blunt your knife and also cause the reed to break because it is too flat. The convex ebony plaque solves both problems.

Have tried it a couple of times. Appears to do exactly what it claims - is very comfortable, easy to assemble and takes some of the strain off my thumb, hand and wrist, without getting in the way.
