I have a thumb rest with a ring and was using a clarinet thumb cushion because there were none for oboe at my local music store. I was so excited to see people made things like this and I am glad I bought it!

Oboe thumb rest
Very well made but doesn't fit my instrument very well (Buffet Crampon Paris, actually made in Austria). Recess not deep enough and had to carve 2 corners off to enable me to engage hook of my neck strap.
Dear Eric,
It is a good job you are creative enough to make this work for you! Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, hopefully other players potentially in the same position will take inspiration and make it work for them too.
Happy comfortable oboe-ing!

The items (magnetic pencils) rrived on time and are even lovlier than the pictures looking forward to giveng them to my music teacher as a small thank you gift !
I’ve had a number of Winfield Continental reeds now from Crook & Staple. I have always found the reeds to play well, produce a good sound and tone. There is sometimes a difference in the hardness of the scrape which can take some reeds longer to be playable. I will continue to buy these reeds
The classical oboe reeds were made with modern brass staples fitted with O-rings rather than the traditional thread wrapping. Consequently the staples did not fit the instrument and there was no way to adjust the width. I must confess I should have done more research before purchasing.
